Devices and Mac OS X version

Mac users running Catalina (10.15.7) and Mojave (10.14.6) will find Security Update 2021-004 Catalina and Security Update 2021-005 Mojave available to download and install instead, along with an update to Safari. Separately, iPadOS 14.7 and iOS 14.7 are also available for iPad and iPhone, respectively. Sudo port install libusb. To install libusb1.0. Sudo port install libusb-legacy. To install libusb0.1.12. VLC media player requires Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later. It runs on any Mac with a 64-bit Intel processor or an Apple Silicon chip. Previous devices are supported by older releases.
Note that the first generation of Intel-based Macs equipped with Core Solo or Core Duo processors is no longer supported. Please use version 2.0.10 linked below.

Web browser plugin for Mac OS X

Support for NPAPI plugins was removed from all modern web browsers, so VLC's plugin is no longer maintained. The last version is 3.0.4 and can be found here. It will not receive any further updates.

We provide older releases for users who wish to deploy our software on legacy releases of Mac OS X. You can find recommendations for the respective operating system version below. Note that support ended for all releases listed below and hence they won't receive any further updates.

iRecovery is a libusb-based CLI utility for Mac OS X, Linux, and Windows. It is able to talk to iBoot and iBSS and iBEC via USB. It's completely open source; the source code is released under the terms of the GNU GPL v3. The full license text can be found in the LICENSE file on github.Please note that there is no official compiled version available.

It currently connects to:
